Puppy socialization is meant to create positive experiences and emotional safety during a puppy’s early development. Rather than overwhelming puppies with too much exposure, they are given opportunities to observe, recover, and settle into new situations at their own pace. Positive socialization supports confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience, laying the foundation for lifelong learning and stability.
Healthy puppies can begin group classes as early as 9 weeks old, in line with guidance from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) and current veterinary behavior recommendations. Starting early with structured, reward-based training helps puppies build confidence, practice calm behavior around distractions, and develop positive experiences during critical developmental stages.
Start with simple, predictable routines and short training sessions woven into daily life. Focus on everyday skills like calm settling, gentle handling for grooming and veterinary care, and calm interactions with people and social, healthy dogs. Avoid overwhelming your puppy while keeping learning calm, enjoyable, and consistent.
The first few years of a dog’s life are essential for developing confidence, coping skills, and emotional regulation. Structured training helps puppies and adolescent dogs learn how to navigate the world thoughtfully, manage excitement and frustration, and build skills that carry into adulthood.
Reward-based training prioritizes learning, safety, and trust. By reinforcing behaviors we want more of and avoiding punishment or fear, dogs learn with confidence, develop emotional regulation, and stay engaged in the training process. We follow guidance from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), which supports humane, reward-based methods shown to promote effective learning, emotional well-being, and a strong human–dog bond while reducing the risk of fear, anxiety, and aggression.
Enrichment supports a dog’s physical, mental, and emotional needs based on factors like age, breed tendencies, energy level, and life experience. By providing healthy outlets for natural behaviors, such as sniffing, movement, problem-solving, rest, and choice, dogs are better able to engage in learning. When needs are met, stress decreases, focus improves, and training becomes more effective and enjoyable.
Group classes provide a supportive learning environment where dogs practice essential life skills around other dogs and people while staying connected with their people. Handlers learn communication, engagement, and management skills, all within a structured setting that supports fun learning.
Private training is ideal for families seeking individualized support, flexible scheduling, or help with specific goals. Sessions are tailored to your dog’s needs and your priorities, making them a great option for focused, efficient progress. Private training is available both in our studio and in your home.
Virtual training is a convenient and highly effective option, especially for dogs who are fearful, sensitive, or reactive. It’s also a great choice for busy families who might otherwise put off training too. Training in a familiar environment helps dogs learn more comfortably while still receiving expert guidance and support.
Single sessions and workshops are a great way to explore new skills, try enrichment-based activities, or refresh skills you’ve already learned, without committing to a full series.
Sniffing is a dog’s primary sense and a core biological need. When dogs have regular opportunities to sniff, search, move, and problem solve through activities like Nose Work, Mantrailing, Barn Hunt, NASDA games, and Sniffaris, they’re better able to decompress, regulate their emotions, and recover from stimulation. Meeting these needs often leads to calmer behavior, engagement and fun learning.
Scent-based activities allow dogs to use their nose in purposeful, fulfilling ways. Whether searching for target odors, following a unique human scent trail, or engaging in instinct-driven games like Barn Hunt and activities offered through the North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA), these experiences build confidence, problem-solving skills, and emotional regulation, while being genuinely fun for both dogs and their people.
Getting started is easy, and no prior experience is required. We offer a variety of class options for dogs new to sports or families simply looking for enrichment and fun. You can begin with a private introductory session or single class to explore activities like Nose Work, Mantrailing, Barn Hunt, NASDA, Parkour, and more. From there, you choose ongoing group classes, workshops, or private sessions based on your goals, your dog’s needs, and your schedule.
