Odors Tested
Birch, Anise, and Clove.
Only one set up for each odor will be offered. Handlers may enter only one dog per odor.
Cost
$35.00 per dog/per odor.
Start Time
Handler Briefing Times will be staggered depending on number of registrations. Registration times will be sent 1 week prior to ORT.
Please do not arrive at the test site prior to 8:30 am.
Test Site Information
Vehicle Crating is Required. Dogs may also be tethered in vehicle. All dogs must be on a 6’ leash at all times when not being tested. No flexi-leashes for walking dogs on test site grounds; flexi-leashes may be used in the test itself. Testing Room has linoleum flooring.
Please come prepared to provide adequate cover, shade, water and any other items that you may need to keep your dog comfortable. All dogs must wait in the vehicle or in crates until they are called unless they are in the approved potty areas. Dogs will not be permitted to roam. BASIC DESCRIPTION OF TEST
To successfully pass an ORT a dog must identify the location of the target odor and the handler must correctly call an “alert” within a three-minute time period. The Odor Recognition Test consists of a drill type exercise which requires 12 closed boxes set up in a pattern of one or two rows, spaced a minimum of 48” apart. The ORT is conducted on leash. NACSW™ Memberships and Registration
All dogs participating in the ORT must be registered with the NACSW™. All handlers must also be members of the NACSW™.
Membership and Registration must be completed at least 6 weeks prior to the ORT to allow for processing time. Membership and registration information is available here: http://nacsw.net/nacswmembership.html.
An ORT must be taken and passed at least 14 days before a trial opening date to be eligible for the first draw period.
DOGS PARTICIPATING in ORT must be at least six months of age and must appear to be healthy on trial day and should be current on all vaccinations required by law.
All exhibitors should obtain and review a copy of the NACSW™K9 NOSE WORK® RULE BOOK. You may get it from their website: www.NACSW.net
Score books are optional and are not required to participate in an ORT. They are for personal record keeping. If you have lost a scorebook and would like a replacement, you can request a replacement book that will include all your prior NACSW results. Log in to your account here: http://www.nacsw.net and under the "My Account" section, go to "My Dogs" and choose the option to order a replacement score book there. The cost is $20.
Payment and Refund Policy
Please submit registration and payment online. A refund, minus a $5 processing fee per odor will be given for cancellations received by email before October 15, 2015. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, or excused by the NACSW™ official or judge.
Video/Photography Policy
ORT participants are allowed to have a friend or family member video/photograph their test. ORT participants are not allowed to video/photograph one another. Video may not be shared with others until all testing is complete for the day.
Acknowledgement of entry acceptance/CONFIRMATION will be made by email when entries are processed.
